Are you really ready for Homeopathy?

“Wait, what? Why is she talking people out of hiring her?”

Oh, I’m not! Don’t get me wrong. I actually love working with clients who understand and are ready for homeopathy. But some clients are just not ready to embark on this journey – yet!

Many clients who start working with a homeopath do have at least a small level of skepticism. After all this practitioner is new to them, and they may even be new to homeopathy. That’s ok. A healthy dose of skepticism can keep everyone on their toes, right?

But not everyone is cut out to be a homeopathy client…or they are not ready right now. Maybe this post will help you to determine if this modality is right for you at this time and how you can get past some of the “barriers to entry”!

In this video I discuss why some people are not ready to hire a homeopath (with some tips on how to break through these barriers).

8 Reasons Not to Hire a Homeopath:

1. You aren’t familiar with homeopathy and how it works.

I often suggest that people read Impossible Cure by Amy Lansky before hiring a homeopath. Homeopathy is much more complex a modality than most people realize and they tend to be utterly confused about why homeopaths suggest the protocols that they do. Having a background knowledge in homeopathy will allow you to partner with your homeopath so you don’t feel so lost and confused. If you really have no idea what homeopathy is (ie. you think it’s herbs!), start with this article!

2. You want immediate results.

Homeopathy takes time...

Some people are lucky enough to get immediate results! However, for many people it takes a fair amount of trial and error to get the ball rolling in the direction both client and homeopath are aiming for. For others, a remedy may initially yield a positive result that is not for the initial complaint (maybe the client is sleeping much better and has more energy, but the main symptom of the case is not resolved – yet!). Healing with homeopathy can take time and everyone should be prepared for healing to take place at the rate your body will allow.

3. You are a skeptic.

There’s not a lot to say about this one. You either believe in natural healing or you don’t! I often find that people are open to homeopathy when they T.E.E.T.H. What is T.E.E.T.H.? It’s a saying we have in homeopathy: Tried Everything Else, Try Homeopathy! Often times people have been let down by many practitioners and modalities and they have a decent amount of skepticism by the time they get to a homeopath! This should bring us back to the #1 point on this list. Education may help to break down the barriers of skepticism in this case.

4. You want to put all of your eggs in one basket.

Homeopathy can do a lot. And I mean A LOT – when it comes to resolving chronic issues. But it can’t do everything. There are so many natural healing modalities and self-care tactics out there. Use them!

5. You don’t trust your practitioner.

You need to have a good rapport with and feel for your practitioner. Sometimes having found people who have used the practitioner in the past can help increase your trust in a practitioner. Do your research before hiring a homeopath. This can go a long way in the trust factor.

6. You aren’t willing to look at “maintaining causes”.

The phrase “maintaining causes” in homeopathy is just our way of saying…the things that are keeping you sick. Sometimes a client has a hard time giving up a habit, a lifestyle, or even a relationship, that is bringing them down! This doesn’t have to happen all at once. But a client needs to be able to get real with themselves and consider the maintaining causes in their lives!

7. You don’t plan to follow up.

Following up with your homeopath is very important. Seeing a homeopath once, and getting one protocol, and then never contacting them again certainly will not get you far. Build a relationship with your homeopath and follow up!

8. You aren’t comfortable with situations which are highly nuanced.

It can be difficult getting comfortable with unfamiliarity, uncertainty, and nuances in any situation. Steering a homeopathy case takes great skill and patience. It is not a cut and dry journey. The longer you work with your homeopath and read up on homeopathy in general, the better you will understand the nuances that arise on this journey! The better you will be able to partner with your homeopath so that you can reach your health goals together.

“What if I think I’m ready?”

If you feel you have done the research and had a heart-to-heart talk with yourself about having a realistic expectation of homeopathy, then by all means – start looking for the perfect homeopath for you! When given the time and space to do it’s magic, homeopathy can change lives and it might even change yours 🙂
